Happy New Year, friends!

The Christmas decorations are now (mostly) packed away, and we’ve turned the page to a new year. The past couple of weeks have passed in a blur of twinkling lights, slower mornings, favorite foods, and time spent with family. 

We enjoyed some time off, which allowed us to rest, recharge, and reflect, looking back on where we’ve been and where we’d like to go this year. There are some new things in store for Ashley’s Pastries and that makes us excited and eager to get going.

We’ll be expanding our gluten free offerings giving customers more choices. We’ll be adding gluten free dessert slices to our daily menu, as well as pretzel sticks that are gluten free. You’ll also find a larger selection of gluten free cookie options available in our cases this year. 

In addition to our standing favorites, we’ll be adding new monthly and weekly items to the menu, too. 

A favorite breakfast treat of mine is our cinnamon rolls, and this year we’ll be offering a new line of featured cinnamon rolls monthly. This month’s flavor is hot cocoa, and it’s available now. We encourage you to pop in to try one. While they are a delicious way to start your day, cinnamon rolls are a tasty treat at any time! 

A preview of some of the yummy upcoming flavors include red hots in February and chocolate thin mint in March. Of course, we’ll always be serving our classic cream cheese ones as well. 

We’ll also be offering a cookie of the week. These cookies will be oversized and change weekly. Think Snickerdoodle, monster, double chocolate fudge, white chocolate macadamia nut and red velvet. We’ve got a lot of weeks to go and would love to know what kind of cookie you might like to see. What can we bake for you? Let us know! 

Besides providing more products this year, we’re also looking to expand our impact.

We love many, many things about being owners of this bakery, but one of our favorite things is being a part of this community. There are numerous area nonprofits and community groups working hard to be a bright light for those in their darkest moments. We are inspired by their commitment to serve others, and we want to join them in that effort. Whether that means helping with events, serving up sweet treats at fundraisers or participating in food drives, we’re ready to lend a hand, too. 

Finally, we want to soak it all in. We know how fast time is going, and how quickly things can change. This year we want to take it all in – the expression on our youngest customers’ faces as they pick out a Saturday morning donut, the laughter that fills the room when students swing by for a pizza lunch, the delight on a bride’s face when she sees her wedding cake. We relish the moments when grown children come back to say hello, when visitors stop by to pick up a treat as they travel through town, when you stop by to pick up a pastry just because.  We love celebrating life’s moments – big and small – with you and we’re looking forward to baking many memories this year.
