If you’ve been following along, you know we’re celebrating a big milestone this week – it’s Ashley’s Pastries’ 44th birthday!
And while it may be our birthday, we’re celebrating you this week, too, because none of this would’ve been possible without you. Your support, your loyalty, your friendship – it has meant so much to us over the years, and we are thankful for all of it.
Some days it’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that it’s been 44 years since we opened the doors to our bakery on Park Avenue. At the time, we were excited, nervous, and even a little scared to be starting this business as we chased our dream. We had no idea all of the amazing things that awaited us!
But when you love your job like we do, it doesn’t feel like work. It’s our passion and we’re grateful that we’ve had the opportunity to bake deliciousness for more than four decades. Thank you for including us in your celebrations. Thank you for stopping to grab a donut in the morning, for swinging by to get a slice of pizza on a lunch break, and coming back to order birthday cakes and favorite pies and elegant wedding cakes throughout the years.
You’ve kept us going.
Sharing milestones and memories
As we look back on where we started to where we are today, we are honored that you have given us a place at your table and included us in your celebrations. From smash cakes for first birthdays to sheet cakes for graduation parties, you’ve chosen Ashley’s and trusted us to be a part of your family’s milestones. You are more than just customers that come through the door. You’ve become family, and there’s such joy in watching children grow and then bring their own families back to relive favorite memories and enjoy favorite treats. It’s one of the many things I love about this job.
We’ve also been lucky to have so many wonderful employees over the years. From students working during their summer breaks to loyal bakers arriving in the wee morning hours, our team is incredible. They work hard, are kind, and aren’t afraid to go the extra mile to help make someone’s day.
We’re proud to be a part of the community and to work with others in the Dayton area.
We fortunate to have the opportunity for business partnerships with some of the finest restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and country clubs in the area.
For more than 25 years we’ve been working with some of Dayton’s best, helping to supply breads and rolls, pastries and pies, and so much more. We’re honored to work with the University of Dayton, Pine Club, Oakwood Club, Tastefully Roasted, Old Scratch Pizza, Old Hickory Brown, and the Paragon Club. We are lucky to partner with Kettering Health Network and Miami Valley Hospital – important, trusted, and reliable fixtures in our community.
We’re proud to partner with local organizations that serve others and do such important work – House of Bread, Emerge, and Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley. We’ve worked with Muse Machine and many schools in the area. The partnerships and friendships formed over these decades – I am just grateful for all of it!
When we first opened, we didn’t imagine we’d be a stop for famous stars when they came back to town. What a treat it’s been for us when our hometown stars — Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, Martin Sheen, Micah Stock, Beth Stelling, Gretchen Bleiler — stop in for a dessert when they’re back in town. What’s really been amazing – they love our treats so much they want a piece of home when they’re far away. We’ve shipped Sand Tarts and other delicious goodies across the country when they’re celebrating special moments – opening nights, Olympic appearances, Comedy Club performances, birthdays, holiday fun and so much more.

A lot has changed in the 44 years since we opened our doors, but many things at Ashley’s remain the same. Our commitment to provide not just delicious treats but excellent customer service always has and always will be a top priority for us. We believe this has been a secret ingredient in our success. When you walk into our bakery, we hope you feel welcomed, especially when we remember your name and your favorite sweet treat.
