The crisp fall air just makes me want to curl up with a cozy blanket, good book, and something savory for the season. My treat of choice for fall is pumpkin. I especially love the pumpkin bread you can find in our cases right now. I love when it’s fresh and warm and served with butter – yum!

Part of what makes pumpkin treats so yummy is the fact that it’s seasonal – we don’t offer it year-round so it’s an extra delicious treat each fall.

Pumpkin and pumpkin spice are fan favorites and they’ve certainly increased in popularity. We’ve added pumpkin muffins and pumpkin donuts over the years. Of course, we’ve always had pumpkin pies and pumpkin cookies. It just doesn’t feel like fall without the orange gourds in the cases.

If you haven’t had your pumpkin fix yet, make sure you stop by to see us soon. Like the beautiful, color-changing leaves, these fall treats only last so long. Wednesday, October 26, is National Pumpkin Day – the perfect time to stop in and pick up your family’s favorite pumpkin treats!

Creative carving
Hopefully, you have a pumpkin or two on your front porch or stoop these days. Wednesday could be the perfect time to carve your pumpkin.

Jack o lanternThere are SO many awesome designs – the options are really endless when it comes to picking out what you want. If you’d like to tackle something beyond the original jack-o-lantern face, you can find templates online or pick up a carving kit at the store to help with intricate patterns.

You can also get creative without even picking up a carving knife!

You can grab some paint and your favorite paint brush and make your pumpkin your canvas. Paint a fun face. Paint a Halloween scene. Paint stripes or a zig-zag pattern. You could also paint a monogram on it – perfect way to make it uniquely yours on your porch!

Young kids can decorate pumpkins with stickers. You could make a jack-o-lantern face or use Halloween stickers to make a one-of-a-kind pumpkin.

If you want to decorate but aren’t up for carving or painting, you can always wrap the pumpkin with sting, twine or ribbon for a unique look. Polka Dot Pumpkin

Another fun idea is to use a drill to poke holes in your pumpkin. Then, stick your candle inside for a fun polka dot design when the lights go out.

There’s so much fun, creativity and beauty in the season of fall. It’s so enjoyable to watch everything come to life, to see the colors and costumes, sounds and smells of the season. The crunch of leaves, the smell of bonfires and pumpkins. How lucky we are to experience the beauty of October!

Come see us soon to enjoy a fun fall treat. After all, it’s always a good day to celebrate life deliciously.
