The fall weather has finally arrived, just in time for Friday night lights and Sunday tailgates.
It’s going to be a great weekend to find your favorite team sweatshirt and tailgate before the big game. As if we needed another reason to enjoy the fall sports season, we know there’s nothing quite like gathering with friends and family before a big game to share some laughs, eat those yummy gameday treats, and get hyped to cheer on your team.
When it comes to tailgating, a little preparation can go a long way to make it easy to be ready to roll before kickoff.
If you keep some of the staple supplies packed in your favorite tote or tailgating cooler, you just need to add fresh food and cold drinks on game day.
- A cooler. You can’t tailgate without one! Make sure your cooler can hold all your drinks and is large enough for the food, too. Coolers can also double as an extra seat or small table – bonus!
- Plates, napkins, utensils, and cups. Collect these ahead of time and keep them stocked all season. You’ll never have to worry about forgetting the utensils or running out of napkins. Consider reusable items like melamine or find paper products in your favorite team color to add an extra festive flair.
- Condiments. Keep the ketchup, mustard, relish, hot sauce and all your favorite grilling rubs and seasonings ready. This is one less thing to worry about and ensures you’ll have everything you need for your burgers or brats.
- Portable grill. Speaking of burgers and brats – you’ll want a portable grill to make sure you can serve up tasty meats and party sandwiches to the crowd.
- Trash bags. Make sure to include a roll of trash bags with your supplies so you’ll never be without. This makes it easy to keep your space clean during the tailgate and when it’s time to pack up.
- Blankets and chairs. Keep your favorite chair at the ready, and select some warm, fuzzy blankets for tailgating. Stash them in your trunk and you’ll never worry about being cold. They can also double as a picnic blanket, perfect for little tailgaters.
- Portable speaker. A small item that packs a big punch. You’ll want lively tunes to get the energy going and keep everyone pumped up. Added bonus: designate someone as DJ so they can have the playlist prepped.
- Yard games. It could be as simple as keeping a football in the car so you can toss with friends, or bring out the cornhole boards to add another fun entertainment element.
Once you’ve got all the essentials ready, you’ll want to remember to swing by Ashley’s for the finishing details.
