Father’s Day is quickly approaching. It’s this Sunday, June 16. Have you made plans to do something to celebrate the man you call dad?
Dads are such special people in our lives. They make us laugh, encourage us to be a bit more fearless and take a few more risks than mom, and teach us important life skills, like how to make pancakes, throw a baseball, and tie a tie.
There are dads that are Mr. Fix-It and are the go-to when we need help changing a flat tire, fixing a leaking faucet or painting a bedroom. There are dads that are great problem solvers so we call them when we need help. They have a way of looking at a situation and figuring out the best solution. There are dads that are strong and athletic. They shoot hoops with us in the driveway, kick the soccer ball with us in the backyard and take us to games…either to watch us play or so we can watch our favorite team.
For many of us, dads serve as guides, helping us navigate through life by offering advice, sharing their wisdom (which is likely learned from experience), supporting us and loving us unconditionally.
Dads come in all shapes and styles with different strengths, but one thing remains true about any and all dads: we aren’t the same without them.
As I’ve grown older, my relationship with my father has grown, too. I know I’m lucky to still have him in my life. I cherish the time I get to spend with him and look forward to Sundays: we go to church, and brunch and then spend the day together. Sometimes we have a special event or family function to attend but often we just do everyday things. There’s such comfort in being around each other.
Because fathers mean so much to us, it’s only fair that we celebrate them, too. Make dad breakfast and serve him his favorite breakfast fare from Ashley’s. Does he love our donuts or coffee cake? It’s the perfect time to throw some steaks and burgers on the grill, so pick up some freshly baked buns and rolls to complement the meal. And a celebration isn’t complete without dessert so make sure you have dad’s favorite sweet treat on hand. We love custom orders – let us know if there’s a special message we can write on a cake!
To all the dads out there, thank you for everything you do to make us laugh and to make us feel loved. This Father’s Day, we celebrate wonderful YOU!
