If your house is like mine, there’s a bowl full of Halloween candy sitting on your counter. While it’s dwindling, it’ll most likely still be around in two weeks…which is Thanksgiving! Crazy, right, that turkey day is right around the corner? Now is the time to start planning your holiday menu and while you’re at it, figure out how Ashley’s Pastries can help!
Thanksgiving is certainly a holiday tradition at the Dayton, Ohio bakery and we’re already taking orders to ensure you have the perfect complements to your turkey dinner on the table. One of our favorites are the small butterscotch rolls…ooey, gooey cinnamon and butterscotch — just the right amount of sweetness that pairs perfectly with all the other side dishes!
Once the feast is over, it’s time to enjoy the dessert round. We’ve got pumpkin, apple and pecan pies, plus yummy seasonal items like carrot cake, pumpkin rolls and fun cupcakes and cookies for the little ones. Whatever you’re looking to serve, we’re sure we can help make the holiday easier by taking out a bit of the work.
Don’t forget Thanksgiving morning, either! Whether you’re preparing a side dish to take somewhere or hosting the family and cooking the whole meal, make breakfast easy. Put your order in now for breakfast treats and you’ll be all set when morning rolls around. We’ve got ample coffee cakes to choose from, along with donuts, danishes and cinnamon rolls. If you’re hosting and will have company, these are all great options to offer in the morning. Set them out on a pretty plate, brew a pot of hot coffee and guests can help themselves.
Although you might be focusing on the main event, remember one of the best things about the holiday (in addition to family and friends, of course) — the leftovers! Be sure to have fresh baked bread and bakery buns on hand. Just thinking of leftover turkey on a warm bakery bun makes my mouth water. Yum!
We still have a couple of weeks until Thanksgiving (it’s actually two weeks from today, for those who are counting) but it’s the perfect time to order today if you know what you need. Plus, ordering is so easy. Just give us a call at 937-293-1719 to place your order and we’ll make sure everything is ready when it’s a convenient time for you to swing by and pick it up.
Quick entertaining tips for Turkey Day
If you’ll have little ones at dinner, why not create a fun kids table? This is a great way to keep young ones occupied before the meal is ready or it can serve as a distraction after dinner so the adults can enjoy some conversation.
- Cover a kid-friendly table in craft paper, put out crayons and let young guests decorate their own tablecloth. We’re sure they’ll enjoy being allowed to color on the table.
- Set up some art supplies – paper, markers, stickers – and let kids trace their handprint to make their own turkey craft. They can color each finger a different color and draw a face on their thumb to create their own holiday bird. You could even do a contest to see who has the most colorful or creative turkey.
- This one doesn’t have to be limited to kids, but could be fun for all. Before guests arrive, cut out leaves from construction paper (we like fall colors like red, yellow and orange) and have guests write something they are thankful for on their leaf. Before or after the meal, everyone can take turns reading what they’re thankful for.
It’s a little hard to believe how fast the year is going, but we’re certainly excited the holiday seasons are here and we’re ready to help you celebrate!
