When you hear the word hero, what comes to mind?
Do you think of a historical figure, a celebrity, an athlete, your mom or dad? Do you think of those on the front lines, like doctors, nurses, firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who are helping people everyday?
When I think of heroes, I think of our first responders – EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, and police officers – those who respond immediately when there is an accident or emergency. They are the brave ones running into situations when, often, everyone else is running out. They are the courageous ones who put their lives on the line to keep people safe and communities protected.
Right now, our first responders are more essential than ever, working through uncertain times during this global pandemic. It’s only fitting that Wednesday, October 28, 2020, is National First Responders Day.
This national day started before the pandemic hit, but we think it’s especially fitting to celebrate all first responders this year.
Ashley’s Pastries is honoring all of our local first responders by offering them a free breakfast item all day Wednesday, October 28. First responders can stop in and choose a treat of their choice from our bakery cases.
We are forever grateful for the men and women who made the choice to serve and protect their neighbors. They are true heroes and we are proud to celebrate them on this special day. Thank you, first responders!
