We all know how important teachers are. They encourage, teach, nurture, lead, love, challenge, support, and inspire our children day in and day out for nine months of the year. While we appreciate everything they do for our children, do we really take the time to say thank you?

The National Education Association has declared Tuesday, May 9 as National Teacher Day, which is a “day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.” In fact, the whole week (May 8-12) is Teacher Appreciation Week.

May can be a hectic month with school winding down and social activities gearing up, but it’s important to take time to show appreciation. It’ll mean a lot to our teachers, too. What better way to say “thank you” to your children’s teachers than with something special from Ashley’s?

Watch your child’s face light up as they give their teacher a special treat! Not only is it fun for the teachers to receive, but students love to give, too.

Find out your teacher’s favorite treat, put in your order with Ashley’s, and start the teacher’s day off right.

If your child attends preschool or is a little older and has multiple teachers, why not pick up a dozen fresh muffins, an assortment of pastries or a tray of delicious cookies and leave them in a teacher lounge for everyone to enjoy throughout the day?

In addition to yummy treats, there are other simple gestures that can make a big impact for teachers this week:

  • Have your child draw a picture or write a special thank you note.
  • Bring your teacher fresh flowers. You could even clip a few tulips or lilacs from your yard!
  • Give your teacher a gift card to a favorite coffee shop. She can treat herself in the morning on the way to work or in the afternoon if she needs a pick-me-up.
  • Make sure you tell your child’s teacher thank you this week – whether you do it in person at dropoff or pickup, in an email or text message or a handwritten note. Taking a moment from your busy day to show your appreciation will go a long way in making your child’s teacher feel special.

Ashley’s Pastry Shop is always happy to be part of the big and little moments in your life. You can always call ahead to pre-order your teacher’s favorite goodies, but we can also help if you stop in one morning on the way to school. Thank you for letting us help you celebrate. And thank you to teachers everywhere!
